Privacy policy

The short version: there is no account, and your script and videos are made on your device. We never receive them. We measure how the site is used, without cookies, so we can improve it. When ads are enabled, Google may use cookies to show them.

Who we are

Kinetype (kinetype.video) is an independent project based in Bengaluru, India ("we", "us"). For anything about your data, write to hello@kinetype.video.

What stays on your device

• Your script and design. Saved in your browser's local storage so your draft survives a reload. It is never sent to us.
• Your videos. Rendered and encoded in your browser. They are never uploaded.
• Share links. A share link contains your script and design after the "#" in the address. Browsers do not send that part to any server.
• Your theme choice (light or dark), also in local storage.

What we collect

• Usage analytics (PostHog). We record pages viewed and how features are used, for example which motion style was picked and whether an export started, finished or failed, along with browser, device type, screen size and approximate country. PostHog runs without cookies or local storage and does not give you a lasting identifier, so visits are not linked over time. We configure it to discard your IP address after deriving the country. PostHog may record anonymized replays of how the editor is used, with everything you type masked. Data is processed by PostHog Inc. in its EU region.
• Error reports. If an export fails, we receive the error message, browser and device details (through PostHog), so we can fix it.
• Hosting. The site is served by Cloudflare, which processes IP addresses to deliver pages and protect against abuse.

Advertising

To keep Kinetype free, we may show ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites. You can learn how Google uses data from sites that use its services, and turn off personalized ads in My Ad Center. Visitors in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland are asked for consent before advertising cookies are used.

Why we process data

We use analytics and error reports to keep the service working and improve it, and hosting data to keep it secure. For visitors in the EU and UK, this rests on our legitimate interests; advertising cookies rest on your consent. We do not sell personal data.

How long we keep it

Analytics events and error reports are kept for up to 12 months. We do not hold your script or videos at all.

Your rights

Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, and, for visitors in the EU and UK, the GDPR, you can ask to access, correct or erase personal data about you, withdraw consent, and raise a grievance. Because our analytics do not identify you, we usually cannot link data to a person, but we will help where we can. EU and UK visitors may also complain to their data protection authority.
