Scroll-stopping text for Reels.

The first second decides whether someone keeps watching. Kinetype turns your hook into hard-hitting animated text with sound, sized for 9:16 and timed to hold attention.

  1. Hook

Write the line that makes people stop. One to three words per screen hits hardest.

  2. Hit

Slam and Pop land each word with impact. Star the payoff word to flash it in the accent color.

  3. Post

Export a 1080×1920 MP4 and upload it to Reels, TikTok or Shorts, alone or before your clip.

What makes a hook work

Lead with the payoff

Tell people what they get in the first screen. Curiosity beats context.

Fewer words, more screens

Short screens keep the rhythm fast. Kinetype times each word by its length, so short words fly by.

Leave room for the app

Instagram and TikTok cover the bottom and right edge with buttons and captions. Kinetype keeps your text centered and clear of them.

Use it as an intro

Put the clip in front of your main video as a hook, or post it alone as a text-only Reel.

Questions

What size is a Reel?
1080×1920 pixels, 9:16. That is Kinetype's default, and the same file works for TikTok and YouTube Shorts.
Do the sound effects need a license?
No. They are generated in your browser by Kinetype, so there is nothing to license. You can still add a trending sound on top in the app.
How long should a hook be?
Three to six seconds is plenty. Kinetype shows the length as you type so you can trim words until it feels tight.
Is it really free?
Yes. There is no account, no export limit and no paywall on any style.
Is there a watermark?
Only a small optional credit line, "made with kinetype.video", at the bottom of the frame. Switch it off under Style, then Options.
Which browsers are supported?
Recent Chrome, Edge, Safari and Firefox, on phones and computers. MP4 export uses WebCodecs; older browsers fall back to a WebM recording.
